Court halts ALP preselections after union challenge

A push by Labor leader Anthony Albanese and the ALP to fast-track preselections in Victoria ahead of the next federal election has been delayed by a last-minute court order after a legal challenge by unions.

The ugly dispute triggered the state secretary of the Construction, Forestry, Maritime, Mining and Energy Union, John Setka, to take aim at Mr Albanese over preselection for the new seat of Hawke, which has become a flashpoint in the political stoush.
