CFMEU is still Building Bad nine months later

New reports of criminal activity underline how inadequate the measures taken have been to stamp out illegal CFMEU-linked behaviour.

The Building Bad joint investigation series by The Australian Financial Review, The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald and 60 Minutes published last July laid bare the shocking infiltration of the CFMEU by organised crime. Nine months later, new reports of ongoing criminal activity in the construction industry underline how inadequate the measures taken have been to stamp out illegal CFMEU-linked behaviour by the Victorian Labor government and the federal Labor government.

The latest Building Bad revelations added to the CFMEU’s long rap sheet include firms working on Victoria’s Big Build projects being heavied into sponsoring boxing and catering events linked to outlaw bikie gangs. Women assaulted by union officials with criminal records have also come forward claiming to have been blackballed by the industry after complaining.
