People are not stupid or bogans ... it’s us, Shorten tells unis

Former Labor leader Bill Shorten has told university leaders that the sector’s social licence is at risk because of a rise in communication, governance and management failures for which they had failed to take responsibility.

Just four weeks into his role as University of Canberra vice chancellor, Shorten told his new peers that they had to acknowledge some criticisms of the sector were warranted and work harder to sell the benefits of higher education to a sceptical community.
