War crimes whistleblower jailed for nearly six years

Former military lawyer David McBride has been sentenced to almost six years’ jail for leaking classified military documents about investigations into Australian soldiers for alleged war crimes in Afghanistan.
Justice David Mossop of the ACT Supreme Court said on Tuesday that McBride’s actions were a “gross breach of trust” of his position in the Australian Defence Force (ADF).
