President Donald Trump has awarded Scott Morrison one of the US' top military honours, sending a signal about the growing importance of the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue that also includes India and Japan amid geopolitical tensions with China.

Mr Morrison has been awarded the Legion of Merit, along with India's leader Narendra Modi and former Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe.
