Bigger than sport: PNG’s PM on getting an NRL team
Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape says creating a PNG NRL team will be a catalyst for national development and unification in his country and further cement its relationship with Australia almost 50 years after independence.
Speaking ahead of an announcement expected on Thursday of the inclusion of a PNG team from 2028, Mr Marape said the significance for his country went far beyond that of any new Australian team joining the league.
