Victoria faces timber supply crisis after logging exit, industry warns
Victoria will struggle to source enough structural timber to build the homes needed to support its booming population following the state government’s plan to end commercial harvesting of native timber next year, forestry industry figures warn.
Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews this week announced an additional $200 million in support for workers and their families to transition away from native timber logging by January 1, six years earlier than had been flagged.
