PM promises funding for Queensland tourism, Victoria demands flood aid
Anthony Albanese will unveil millions of dollars for Queensland tourism operators after the holiday season was wrecked by floods and cyclones, as Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan vowed to push Canberra for a “fair share” of funding for flood-affected towns in her state.
Mr Albanese announced an extra $50 million for Queensland’s storm and cyclone recovery on Tuesday as he met Defence personnel and emergency workers on the Gold Coast before travelling to Cairns, where locals are recovering from last month’s Tropical Cyclone Jasper.
