Grid bottlenecks pushing workers into ‘valley of death’

Electrical workers say Australia’s broken planning approval laws are slamming the brakes on productivity and creating uncertainty around the closure of old coal and gas plants by slowing the rollout of new renewables projects.

Electrical Trades Union boss Michael Wright said the planning uncertainties around major poles and wire projects were also creating a “valley of death” for electrical workers who had nowhere to go when work finished on other big energy transition developments.
