The federal National Party has appointed outspoken critic of Australia’s net zero emissions target, Matt Canavan, to an internal committee tasked with reviewing the party’s policy on the issue.
The Queensland senator, who used his opposition to net zero as the basis for a leadership tilt against David Littleproud in May, is one of only two parliamentarians confirmed as members of the internal party subcommittee, alongside NSW senator Ross Cadell.
