Wine and barley are the best tests of the thaw with Beijing

There is now political will to end the trade stand-off between China and Australia. An anti-dumping settlement at the WTO would be a face-saving route for both.

Australian wine and barley face anti-dumping duties in China. Their removal would be a great boon to the thawing of bilateral relations. It can be done without loss of face.

If an imported product is sold at less than “normal value” or the everyday selling price in the exporting country, it is dumped.
