Why I’m not optimistic about interest rate cuts
While international inflationary pressures have eased, there is still plenty to worry about at home. And government policies aren’t helping.
Ed ShannEconomistI doubt the current optimism that falling inflation will allow interest rate cuts anytime soon. In fact, it is possible rates will need to rise again to tame domestic inflation.
The decline in inflation over the past year owes more to reduced supply chain disruptions than to lower domestic cost pressures.
