Washington | Rapidly rising energy, food and housing costs have driven US inflation to its fastest annual pace for more than 30 years, sending bond markets into a tailspin and intensifying political focus within the White House and Federal Reserve.
Headline inflation jumped 0.9 per cent in October, bringing the annual rate to 6.2 per cent, exceeding all estimates in a Bloomberg survey of economists.
