NSW budget deficit to more than double to $19.5b in wake of delta

NSW’s budget deficit for 2021-22 will more than double to $19.5 billion in the wake of the delta outbreak but Treasurer Matt Kean is confident a surplus will be delivered by 2024-25.

Then-treasurer Dominic Perrottet’s 2021-22 budget predicted an $8.6 billion deficit for 2021-22 in June, just days before the state went into the months-long lockdown sparked by delta.
