Mookhey clears runway for AAA credit rating loss from NSW budget

Western Australian could emerge as the only state with a AAA credit rating after the Minns government signalled it was prepared to lose the top-tier rating, arguing its impact on the cost of debt was falling.

The Labor government will release its first budget on Tuesday, revealing for the first time the full cost of a new-look uncapped public sector wages policy valued at more than $42 billion, as well as the future of the Metro rail project and other fixtures of the state’s $112 billion infrastructure pipeline.
