Merger shake-up gets Coalition’s blessing

The opposition will support the federal government’s biggest shake-up of merger laws in 50 years, paving the way for more regulator scrutiny of mergers and acquisitions.
Treasurer Jim Chalmers wants to stop mergers that boost industry concentration, lessen competition and ultimately give dominant players cover to push up prices for consumers.
