Major developers say the effects of ex-tropical cyclone Alfred will worsen workforce shortages and productivity problems that mean every project in south-east Queensland already costs 20 per cent more than it should.
The extent of damage from wild winds and flooding across a huge section of south-east Queensland and northern NSW has yet to be tallied, but S&P Global last week estimated insurance costs alone could be at least $2 billion.
