Lending laws locking out home buyers: Bendigo bank

Regional lender Bendigo and Adelaide Bank says stringent home loan regulations are stopping some people from buying property and constraining competition, as Treasurer Jim Chalmers rebuffs calls to ease mortgage lending laws.

The Coalition launched a Senate inquiry into mortgage regulations in August amid concerns that rules aimed at reducing the riskiest forms of borrowing had gone too far and made banks too cautious about lending to first homebuyers.
