Neither major party has offered a credible path for “growing the pie”, fixing the budget and preparing the nation’s military for a new era of disruption

They say you should never let a good crisis go to waste. Yet five years after the pandemic, there is very little to show in the way of meaningful reform that can safeguard the nation from future crises. Particularly on the economic front.

Governments borrowed billions of dollars to save jobs and lives. The result was that Australia achieved among the best health and finance outcomes in the world. But the stimulus also left its mark in less positive ways.
