Saul Eslake rightly calls for the government to act with confidence post-election ( “Labor should use its victory as a platform for ambitious reform”). But although this win was a clear sign that Australians are ready for stability, let’s not settle for the status quo.
With a stronger mandate and a diminished opposition, Labor has no excuse to defer transformative reform. Australians deserve more than cautious tweaks. Bold leadership is both possible and urgently needed.
