The CEOs of seven of Australia's largest companies are holding out hope they can bring their staff back into Melbourne offices this year, after Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews urged them to hold fire on their criticism until Sunday.

Mr Andrews said the state is on track to bring forward a planned reopening on November 2 to as early as Monday. with a couple of days set aside to to allow staff and business owners to prepare their shops and venues.
