GDP growth accelerates to 3.1pc, fastest annual pace in 7 quarters

Annual economic growth unexpectedly surged past 3 per cent in the March quarter, beating the government's official forecasts on a surge in exports.
Gross domestic product rose 1 per cent from the December quarter, when it rose by 0.5 per cent, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said on Wednesday.
