For investors who like big numbers, 2017 has been quite the calender year – and there's still another month to go.

The professionals will focus on valuations, of course, but it's worth noting that the Dow Jones has just posted its fifth, 1000-point gain this year taking it to 24,000 for the first time early on Friday morning.
