Guzman y Gomez in ‘striking distance’ of joining ASX 200

Guzman y Gomez has a good shot at joining the benchmark S&P/ASX 200 Index in September, handing its founder Steve Marks and other major shareholders a big win after the Mexican-themed fast food chain hit the boards just two months ago.

While Guzman y Gomez is all but certain to join the S&P/ASX 300 and Small Ordinaries Index after the S&P’s next quarterly rebalance, Morgan Stanley – which was one of the underwriters of its June initial public offering along with Barrenjoey – said the stock had the “potential” to make the top 200 after the changes are announced on September 6.
