ASX to slide, Wall St pulls back

Australian shares are poised to open lower, dragged down by Wall Street even as commodities extended their advance to start the new year.
ASX futures were down 30 points or 0.5% to 6583 near 8am AEDT, paring earlier losses of more than 40 points. The currency slid 0.4 per cent; the dollar index was little changed.
