Why the RBA’s rates warning won’t mean much to investors
Andrew Hauser says it’s a risk to listen to “false prophets” on interest rates. But those in the market have little choice but to take a position as a crucial turning point looms.
We’re pretty sure Reserve Bank deputy governor Andrew Hauser didn’t have Chanticleer in his sights as he concluded his fascinating speech on monetary policy in Brisbane on Monday.
But the speech, provocatively titled “Beware False Prophets”, did sound at times like a shot at the politicians, commentators, economists, strategists and business people who like to declare that the next move of central banks is blindingly obvious.
