$20m in cash to Palestinians already spent

Australia will not claw back $20 million in payments already made to the United Nations’ controversial Palestinian refugee agency after Foreign Minister Penny Wong paused a $6 million increase over allegations staff members participated in the October 7 terror attacks against Israel.

As the opposition demanded to know why the Albanese government ignored warnings from the Jewish community over ongoing funding for the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), the Palestinian lobby said freezing the funds would make Australia “complicit” with Israeli “genocide”.
