Chalmers and Lowe all smiles in Washington

This week’s visit to the American capital by the great and good in central banking and government finance threw up some awkward moments, although the Australian pair appeared in tune.

Inside the International Monetary Fund’s headquarters on 19th Street in Washington, finance ministers and central bankers from around the world wait for their three minutes to speak.

Those precious minutes are meant to be divided between the two fiscal and monetary policy representatives of each country, but it doesn’t always work out like that.
