Professor David Isaacs strides towards me along a Sydney Children's Hospital corridor, his face beaming and his arm looking like it is about to reach for my hand.
In this time of an almost-transcendental panic, I baulk. Rigidly holding my arm against my side, I acknowledge the paediatrician with an uncertain smile, which seems an inadequate response to his warmth.
