It would be easy to criticise the ANZ Banking Group’s new remuneration structure for suppressing the animal spirits that have driven competition between bankers for the limited pool of incentive bonuses.
But that sort of criticism would fail to understand the sweeping impact of the Hayne royal commission on remuneration and just about every other aspect of financial services.
