For some people watches are an addiction, and I’m the first to admit I’m one of them. Pathetic as it sounds, for people like me the best watch is always the next one and the first joy of the day is deciding what watch to wear. And then, dressing accordingly. It’s rare I will wear one watch throughout the day and evening and even rarer that I’ll wear one watch for a day or two in a row. That’s just how it is. Or, rather, how it was. What’s changed things is not late-onset maturity, but the Apple Watch.
I’m not sure whether to be happy or sad, but this little device has had a surprisingly big impact, becoming my default watch. No, it’s not a better watch, not a more intriguing watch, nor a more desirable watch than those languishing in my drawer of mechanical marvels. It’s simply a handier bit of kit.
