The critical importance of knowing where to find quality food in airports was recently brought home to me at Milan’s dreary Malpensa Airport, Terminal 1.
A last-minute announcement informed travellers that our Singapore Airlines flight to Sydney was delayed by three hours. And there we were, stranded by the departure gates amid next to no shops or restaurants, given we’d passed through security. But in a bit of good luck, I discovered if you traipse down to the end of one particular pier, you’ll find excellent lasagne al ragù and a glass of Sicilian red wine. (Hint: look for Motta.)
