Just five kilometres out of town, however, in the lush hills of Coopers Shoot, it’s an entirely different world. Up here, birdsong and mooing cows is as raucous as it gets. Halfway along the road from Suffolk Park to Bangalow, hidden behind a magnificent Illawarra flame tree, sits Lo Scoglio, a two-storey Italian-style farmhouse that’s a mix of monastic and modern.
