Wash your rice to get rid of microplastic, experts say

Queensland University researchers recommend we rinse both regular and instant rice to avoid ingesting microplastics. They have shown Australians may consume about 1 gram of plastic per person annually with their rice.

Their study, just published, is the first in the world to quantify the levels of microplastics in rice, according to the lead author, Dr Jake O’Brien, from the Queensland Alliance for Environmental Health Sciences.
