Born in Afghanistan, Durkhanai Ayubi was barely two years old when her family fled Kabul in 1985 at the height of the Soviet-Afghan War.
Settling in Adelaide, her parents, Zelmai and Farida, eventually opened Parwana Afghan Kitchen in Torrensville in 2009, as a way of sharing and preserving their culture and their food.
