It's the morning of my lunch with leading Australian scientist and businessman Greg Clark and I get a text from former Liberal minister Warwick Smith: "Tony, be nice to my Tasmanian friend at lunch today!"

The pre-emptive text was slightly unnerving but I later discover Smith found out about the lunch the night before when he visited Clark in his Glenn Murcutt designed home in the NSW Southern Highlands.
