Women follow the lead of Kamala Harris and suit up
Much has been said about the death of formal attire for males – but for females, dressing like you mean business is going strong.
Kamala Harris doesn’t talk about her clothing choices, but that hasn’t stopped the US Vice-President from becoming a bona fide style icon. Her signature look – a pantsuit paired with Chuck Taylor sneakers – has helped usher in a new era in women’s fashion, when the suit is no longer associated with masculine power and authority but rather a sleek, stylish choice that (bonus!) happens to look great on most bodies.
“There are beautiful contrasts that come with wearing a suit,” says Rebecca Vallance. The Australian designer, whose eponymous label includes suits, often wears one herself. “They make you feel professional and polished at once.”
