Secret is out in battle for $50b luxury resale market
Australia is flooded with sites for second-hand luxury items, but making a profit when buyer and seller want the best bang for their buck is difficult.
With nearly 110,000 members, High End is no longer an insider’s secret. The Facebook group, which started in 2014 as a way for founder Brooke Marks to sell a pair of her unwanted Balenciaga heels, is a peer-to-peer marketplace for fashion-minded folk to buy and sell luxury products such as handbags, shoes, clothing and jewellery.
It is the latest luxury resale business to launch in Australia, and with investment from the likes of Katie Page and Rich Lister Robert Whyte, owners Marks and Lauren Kennedy are bullish that it will become Australia’s leading second-hand marketplace.
