The straw men: Reviving a craft the world almost forgot

An Australian creative partnership has brought back to life the 17th-century craft of straw marquetry.

Arthur Seigneur and Adam Goodrum with the Adam&Arthur tallboy acquired by Judith Neilson. 

Arthur Seigneur is standing at a stainless-steel workstation on which sit various gas rings, assorted pots and a rather handsome fish-poaching pan. Tall strands of what look like spaghetti sprout from a couple of canisters.

“C’est ma table de cuisine,” he laughs.
