Designed for a ski resort in the ’60s but never made – until now

Charlotte Perriand’s rug sketches for French ski resort Les Arcs were not discovered for decades. Now they are being brought to life. This feature appears in the upcoming March issue.

To discover previously unknown work by a globally renowned designer, two decades after her death, is to unearth a rarity. And to find that it is still relevant – perhaps more so – 50 years after it was imagined is to have hit pay dirt.

Such is the case with a series of rug designs that Pernette Perriand and her husband, Jacques Barsac, came across as they were preparing the Charlotte Perriand: Inventing A New World exhibition at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris, in 2019.
