He’s up in the wee hours hard at work writing every morning – including weekends. Other than that, Saturday is busy, but Sunday is for doing nothing – creating “space” to think, have a siesta and hang out with the grandkids, Scotland’s most famous legal scholar and novelist tells Life & Leisure.

Saturday morning is, in my view, probably the nicest time of the week. I’ve always loved Saturday mornings. You feel the release after the week, that you’ve finally finished with it. On Saturday morning I’m also allowed to have eggs and bacon. My normal breakfast every other day is a couple of boiled eggs, but on Saturdays, I have fried eggs and bacon.
