The film version of Paul Kelly’s seasonal anthem, How to Make Gravy, has its moments but borrows too many ingredients from the very Australian genre of sozzled social realism.
The only Australian culture war worth fighting right now is about our Christmas anthem. Is it Paul Kelly’s How to Make Gravy, or Tim Minchin’s White Wine in the Sun?
The former has a distinct advantage because now you can sing the song, make the gravy and watch the film.
