Women-only gallery’s court win: ‘30 seconds to squash the patriarchy’

A section of Hobart’s Museum of Old and New Art that excludes men is set to reopen, with founder Kirsha Kaechele celebrating a “big win” after the Tasmanian Supreme Court found it did not breach anti-discrimination law.

In April, the Tasmanian Civil and Administrative Tribunal upheld a complaint from NSW man Jason Lau that he had been discriminated against, after he paid MONA’s $35 entry fee but was barred access to its Ladies Lounge gallery on the basis of his gender.
