Sydney commuters won relief from two days of transport chaos when the Fair Work Commission barred rail unions from taking further industrial action until next week, although further disruptions were expected from a maintenance backlog.
After an urgent state government request for a hearing, the commission ordered that industrial action be suspended from 6.30pm until an application to end the railway unions’ protected action can be heard by the full bench on Wednesday.
