Webjet has blamed a steep drop in domestic flight bookings on the demise of airline Regional Express, while postponing plans for a share buyback amid takeover speculation surrounding the group.

Chief executive Katrina Barry said net profit of $20.9 million for the year to March 31 was in line with guidance and achieved “despite a challenging consumer environment”. The group reported a 9 per cent drop in domestic flight bookings for the year to March 31. While bookings were down 11 per cent in the first six weeks of financial year 2026.
