Telstra pulls out of Philippines venture but CEO keen for Asian acquisitions

Telstra chief executive Andy Penn says he is still keen to invest more than $1 billion in new ventures despite the collapse of talks with Philippines conglomerate San Miguel to build the country's third mobile network.

After over a year of talks the negotiations failed over the weekend. Speaking to investors and media on Monday morning, Mr Penn refused to explain why – except to say that Telstra couldn't get the risk-reward balance right.
