A decade ago businessman Peter Yates was in New Zealand celebrating his 20th wedding anniversary with wife Susan. They were staying at the Blanket Bay luxury lodge on the outskirts of Queenstown. By coincidence so was Sam Chisholm and his wife Sue. Chisholm and Yates had both worked at different periods for the late billionaire media mogul Kerry Packer.
The couples would dine together on Friday, May 4, 2007 – the night when one of the biggest takeover offers in aviation history was considered to be a done deal.
