Think of the beneficiaries of the artificial intelligence revolution. Some of the last names that come to mind are the old-fashioned, bricks and mortar retailers. Perhaps rightly, the eye-watering success of stocks such as chipmakers Nvidia, which beat expectations again last week, will be difficult to replicate.

But amid the frenzy, and intensified by the loud launch of AI-forward laptops from Microsoft, which has partnered with Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo and Samsung, the focus is starting to turn to how it could boost earnings for Harvey Norman and JB Hi-Fi.
