Postie may come every three days if letters keep dying

Australia Post has set a June 30 deadline for Macquarie Group, ING and HSBC to join a $120 million annual deal with the big four banks to provide banking services for customers in the bush.

Australia Post chief executive Paul Graham on Friday delivered a healthy $249.1 million profit for the first half of the financial year. The result was helped by record parcel deliveries in the lead-up to Christmas and by government changes to allow letter deliveries every second day.
