Melbourne shoppers spend more as city hums back to life

New data from the City of Melbourne shows that while foot traffic is still slightly down on pre-pandemic levels, people are spending more than they did before COVID-19.
People spent $31.68 million on average each weekday in December 2022, with Thursdays and Fridays doing the heavy lifting. This was up from $30 million, when adjusted for inflation, during the same period in 2019.
